How Good Is Affiliate Marketing?
These are the good parts:
(a). You don’t have to stock inventory
(b). You can get several products to sell now
(c). You don’t have to pay anyone to start selling the
products you prefer
(d). You don’t need employees
(e). You can work at home
The not so good parts:
(a). The Myth: All You Need Is To Get A Product, Promote And
You’ll Make Money
It doesn’t work that way. The product you’ll sell
are for your targets who want some value from you in exchange for their
money, to them it does not matter whether you are an affiliate,
merchant or store owner, what they want is to get the value
they’ll eventually pay for, if they can’t get that
value they won’t buy, which means you have to give them the
values they want in the product/service you sell whether you are an
affiliate or not. What this means to you as an affiliate is that you
have to treat your online business as a real business, just like a
merchant/store owner will do, you have to select a profitable niche and
target to sell to, research the niche, know the niche and the target
you wish to sell to, what they want, problems they have, know the
products/services that will give them what they want, do lots of
promotions etc just like any business that wants to make online will
do, this is the only to profits online selling products and services on
the internet if you want to be successful with it, being an affiliate
does not mean you won’t have to do these.
(b). Merchant Not Paying Affiliates
Some merchants may not pay affiliates the commissions they make on
their sales, hence you’ll need to do to research on the
merchants or affiliate network you’ll be selling for, check
the forums, ask questions and do a search for things like fraud, scam
etc in relation to any merchant or affiliate network you’re
interested in selling for.
(c). Expecting The Merchant To Stay Around Because Of You
Business comes and go, once a business is no longer profitable anyone
including your merchant, they will stop operating that business, no
merchant will stay around when it is no longer profitable for him just
so you as an affiliate can make money, so you’ve got to
spread your risk, sell for more
(d). Expecting The Merchant To Do Everything For You
It won’t happen, sure they will give you ads, banner etc but
they can’t write/create your content, free giveaways, do your
promotions etc for you (things you’ll need to do to maintain
your uniqueness and make the sale as an affiliate), you’ll
have to do these yourself or outsource them, remember you are a
business too.
